MARCH 25 - PHYSICSBOWL DEADLINE
Enter your high school students in Physicsbowl 2004 and receive national
recognition for your school, your students, and your teaching
excellence.
The 40-question, timed, multiple-choice test can be taken in the period
April 8 - 21, 2004. For more information and an application, go to the
AAPT website http://www.aapt.org/Contests/physicsbowl.cfm .
MARCH 26 - DEADLINE FOR APPLICATION FOR DIRECTOR OF EXAMINATIONS
AAPT is looking for a Director of Examinations. The applicant must be a
member of AAPT; have knowledge of 1) introductory physics, 2) test
construction, 3) test evaluation, and 4) current trends in physics
education. For more information about the responsibilities, the term of
appointment, and the financial support, please visit the AAPT website at http://www.aapt.org .
Thursday, April 1 is the deadline for submitting abstracts for the 129th
AAPT National Meeting at California State University in Sacramento, CA,
July 31-Aug 4, 2004. The meeting theme is "Physics of Sports and the
Human Body." For information on Call for Papers, or to submit an
abstract, go to http://www.aapt.org/Events/call4papers.cfm .
As a service to the physics education community, AAPT will provide to
any
high school physics teacher, who is a member in good standing, a
certificate that may then be awarded by the teacher to his or her
outstanding physics student at year-end honor assemblies. Deadline for
requests is May 1, 2004.
Teachers need to submit their requests each year to receive a
certificate
in mid-spring. The application is available to members only. For more
information, or to access the application please go to http://www.aapt.org/Grants/studentcert.cfm .
The video contest is open to any high school student or faculty member.
Submitted videos should demonstrate physics in action. The video must
have
been taken by the submitting student or faculty member.
Entries will be judged during this summer's 129th AAPT National Meeting,
and will be evaluated based on their suitability for instructional use.
Professional editing is not required. Videos must be VHS format. The
video
may not be longer than five minutes in length.There are two categories:
Faculty and Student. Further information on the contest, as well as
