What Alex wants, probably, is a formula which
gives the value of the air resistance coefficient
as a function of an asymmetry parameter, such
"the optimal launch angle," or "the difference
between the ideal and real ranges." I have
not seen such formulas.

As a straw man, I will offer as a measure, the optimal launch angle

In projectile motion without resistance the path is a parabola.
With resisatance, the path is asymetric. Is there a standard way to
measure that asymetry? Can that measure be analytically related to
the
the resistance?
