Impedance matching

Would throwing an object be a good example of the problem (challenge) of
impedence matching? Throw a BB vs a baseball vs a bowling ball. It is
certainly easier to deliver more energy to the baseball than the other two.

Swimming is another example of impedance matching (or mismatch).
Humans are capable of developing considerably more power than needed
to swim through water at 1 m/s, but the size and shape of hands and
feet do not permit use of this latent power to propel oneself through
water effectively. Rubber flippers provide a decent impedance
matching device (transformer). Nature solved the impedance matching
problem for swimming birds by evolving webbed feet. -- Wolfgang
