I've advertised (only?) twice both as part of threads. The second time I
first asked the List's mgr. if it was OK; he assented.  I don't remember
what the second was, but I think it was another item a friend mfgs.  The
first was a very accurate sidereal clock on a thread discussing sidereal
time.  If I remember correctly, I suggested Googling the person's last
name to find the item.  My friend later thanked me, as a list member did
purchase one as a result of my post.

In the thread on power line frequency control chaos, as a consequence of
the blackout, I reported the result of his monitoring line frequency
using one of his devices in Santa Barbara.  He did this because I
forwarded a (or several) post(s) from this thread.  Below is his result:

bc,  who thinks it's ok to "advertise" the availability of some
commercial item, IF it directly relates to a thread.

p.s. I think making spam a felony is a bit extreme.
