Re: Readings for manned space flight

You can search "debate" on NASA's Human Space Flight web page:

example:

`Great Debate' Lesson Plan for Undergraduates

by
Robert J. Nemiroff
George Mason University and NASA Goddard Space Flight Center and
Jerry T. Bonnell
Universities Space Research Association and NASA Goddard Space Flight Center

This lesson plan is meant to be used for undergraduates studying astronomy to supplement to an existing introductory astronomy course. As such, it may guide the instructor in preparing her/his own lecture or be distributed and read by the class. Students reading this lesson plan / lecture might need to do some background reading on astronomy to understand some of the terms and concepts used. Any good introductory astronomy textbook should be able to fill this role. For more detailed background material on the Curtis - Shapley debate, both students and teachers are urged to access the 75th Anniversary Astronomical Debate home page on the World Wide Web with URL

topic can be anything from the last hundred years.

One topic that I thought might be interesting is the
necessity/wastefulness of manned space flight.  Could anyone recommend any
relevant articles?
