SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATIONS DUE DECEMBER 1 FOR FUTURE HIGH SCHOOL PHYSICS
TEACHERS

Undergraduate students in, or planning to enter, physics teacher
preparation curricula and high school seniors planning to enter such
curricula are eligible. Successful applicants, normally one per year,
will
receive a stipend of up to $2,000. The Barbara Lotze Scholarship may be
granted to an individual for each of four years. For more information

AAPT TO HOST JOB FAIR

AAPT will host a Job Fair in conjunction with the 128th National
Meeting
in Miami. The Job Fair is for physicists, astronomers, physics
teachers,
professors, and college grads.
JOB SEEKERS: Submit resumes to be made available to employers, or come
to
the job center and interview on-site. As a benefit, AAPT and SPS
members
can submit their resumes for no charge. Inform your co-workers and
students that non-members can submit their resume for a minimal fee.

AAPT NATIONAL MEETING SPEAKERS TO BE FEATURED ON TV MINISERIES

NOVA, on PBS, is scheduled to air The Elegant Universe on October 28th,
8-10 pm and November 4, 8-9 pm. This three-hour miniseries will feature
bestselling author-physicist Brian Greene. Greene is considered to be
one
of the world's foremost string theorists. Another prominent physicist
in
the miniseries is Sylvester James Gates. Both Greene and Gates have
been
speakers at past AAPT Meetings. For more information on this miniseries

DEADLINE NOV. 1 TO APPLY FOR HIGH SCHOOL TEACHER GRANTS

This year AAPT will continue its Innovative High School Physics
Teachers
Grants Program. This program enables high school physics teachers to
compete for small grants that will support the operation of innovative
physics programs or activities that seek to increase student
enrollment or
to enhance student achievement in physics. More information can be

REBUILT PSRC WEBSITE: FIND CURRICULUM MATERIAL FOR ALL GRADE LEVELS

The Physical Science Resource Center (PSRC) website has been updated
and
has a new URL. The PSRC website contains information and links to a
wide
range of materials for teachers in the physical science community.
Search
by keyword, author, or organization to find materials. Registered users
can recommend items for inclusion in the collection, add comments about
the materials, and store useful resources found on the website in their
own virtual filing cabinet. The PSRC website is a free and open
resource
provided as a service by the AAPT. The website is located at
