Can anyone describe how a manual chain hoist works? I've looked across the

Conceptual Overview

Two pulleys of different diameter fixed together.
Larger one hauls up the suspension, smaller one lets it down.
Efficiency arranged to be less than 50% to avoid runaway.
A detent may also be fitted.

Details:

Pulleys have claws which hold each link to avoid slipping.
The chain passes from one pulley to a single sheave on the hook end and up
again to the other pulley. A length of the same chain is hauled to
motivate the top pulleys. This length grows as the hook lifts.
