Testing of perpetual motion machines of the second kind

I am afraid it is not even an experimentally tested proposition.

There are many historical examples of experimentally testing
'perpetuum' propositions. It is found that they stop.
Without exception.

The opposite is true, Brian. No scientifically reasonable testing of perpetuum
mobile of the second kind has ever been performed. If you disagree, please
describe, in simple terms, at least one such testing. It should prove
unequivocally that the maximum work extractable from an isothermal cycle is zero
for some system different from an ideal gas. Thermodynamicists have an
interesting opinion on this problem. They say: "The great success of
thermodynamics proves that the second law is correct. If it were incorrect,
thermodynamics would not be so successful".
