New teaching position



The following info is for a new teaching position here at Edinboro in
Northwestern corner of Pennsylvania. This is also listed on AAPT's Web site
at the link for Career Center/Search the Job Ads. We wanted to get this
information out to more people due to the 4/28/03 deadline.

EDINBORO UNIVERSITY OF PENNSYLVANIA - PHYSICS AND TECHNOLOGY DEPARTMENT
Position # 155-1231 -- Full-time Temporary Instructor/Assistant Professor
Beginning Fall 2003. This position could develop into a tenure-track position
in the future.
Responsibilities: Teach courses at any level for the department's bachelors
degree physics program and support courses for other majors. Successful
candidate should also be capable of teaching an introductory engineering
graphics and design course using CAD software. A willingness to contribute to
curricular development and to involve undergraduate students in small research
projects is desirable.
Qualifications: Master's degree in Physics plus ten semester hours of graduate
credit and four years teaching experience. A PhD in Physics with engineering
experience is preferred.
Deadline: Applications must be postmarked by April 28, 2003.
Salary: Very competitive; commensurate with qualifications/experience.
In addition to specific responsibilities, faculty members are expected to
maintain a record of scholarship, perform additional duties such as student
advising, and contribute positively to departmental/university activities,
etc., in compliance with a collective bargaining agreement.
In order to be a finalist in a search, in addition to the aforementioned
requirements, the candidate minimally must be able to communicate well and
perform well in an interview and teaching demonstration.
