Re: School Board---NYS Physics Regents exam 2002

I am annoyed that NYS, in its infinite wisdom, announced that there was
nothing wrong with the test, but students could re-take in August. The
state further pointed out that we didn't have to use the exam as our
final exam grade and that chemistry and physics are, after all, for
advanced students.

Schools in NYS have heard all the brouhaha; schools otherwhere have
not. I think the letter, from the conference of superintendents of
schools, is a good idea. It points out that, this year, for this test,
the course grade should mean more than the Regents exam grade.

I find myself wondering what the average score of the would be test writers
might be.

I find myself wondering if members of our current school board could score
high enough on the SAT to get admitted to a respected university.

This thread started by asking about the evaluation of the performance of
the school system --- and as usual the tread has wandered well of course --
if one asked about 2+2 the thread would end up talking about QM space
involution.

Any further comments re the mission of school board members?
