These aren't exam answers, but they happened when I was teaching
elementary science.  (I'm a high school chemistry/physics teacher,
but I've taught kids from ages 9 to 90 in the 9 years I've been
teaching.)

In one class, I had 4th graders doing research online.  And I'm a
stickler for citation, even with elementary kids.  One student who
was absent the day before and reading over his instructions asked
"Who is Earl [URL] and why do I have to write about him?"

Another 4th grader got into an argument with me regarding
something he supposedly heard on the news.  "Do you believe
everything you hear on the news?" I asked, curious.  "Well, not the
Weatherman, obviously!"

Kids say the darnedest things.
