=09California State University, Fullerton, Department of Physics is s=
eeking applicants for a full-time position at the Assistant Professor=
level beginning in August 2003. Information about the department and=

=09Position

=09The Department offers both B.S. and M.S. degrees in Physics and is=
seeking an experimental physicist with research specialties in AMO p=
hysics or in the optical properties of condensed matter . The new fac=
ulty member will be expected to initiate a research program involving=
undergraduate as well as M.S. graduate students. Currently, the prim=
ary research focus of the experimental programs in the department is =
electron scattering, fiber optics and photonics, and astronomy. The=
department also has active theoretical programs in AMO physics, quan=
tum and fiber optics. The successful candidate is expected to pursue =
extramural funding to support his/her research interests.

=09Qualifications

=09The successful applicant must have a Ph.D. in physics and research=
interests in experimental AMO physics or optical properties of mater=
ials. Postdoctoral experience is preferred. Candidates must also dem=
onstrate a strong commitment to teaching at both the undergraduate an=
d graduate levels, and be willing to contribute to the department's l=
aboratory curriculum development at all levels.

=09Rank and Salary

=09The position is at the rank of Assistant Professor, tenure-track. =
Salary is competitive and commensurate with experience and qualific=
