That's backwards at best.

There are scientific ways of establishing validity.
Consensus follows from validity, not the other way around.

(Note that I prefer speaking of "validity" rather than
"truth". It is natural to speak of a range of validity
or a degree of validity. It seems more awkward to speak
of a range of truth or a degree of truth.)
