physics for life science majors

We have been engaged in a discussion regarding our 2 semester physics
sequence primarily for life science majors. In the course, we currently
cover a large number of topics, without going into a lot of depth on any
one topic. We are considering revising the course so that we cover
fewer topics, but go into greater depth on the topics we do cover. Does
anyone know of any studies that have been done to indicate which
approach is more effective?

Thanks.

Dave
