Re: wheels come off - speed doubles?

Where is the statement that the speed doubles? The only statement about
speed is "On Wednesday, Newton Grove police believe a truck was speeding,
possibly going 55 in a 35-mph zone". The truck was going almost double the
speed limit, but I neither saw nor heard on the video clip anything about
the dynamics of the situation. Is it possible that the story has been
changed, or did I miss a link to the speed doubling page? It seems to be
just a factual report about damage due to a truck losing tires, and the
subsequent recovery of damages.

I think it is bogus as well.

An entertaining story, if nothing else:

I'm having a hard time figuring what physical mechanism
might make the speed double. I want to say this is bogus,
despite the highway patrol (see text and video) obviously
taking it as fact... it if was true, there should be an
obvious kinetic energy principle behind it, but I see none.
