You're absolutely right, Herb. Snoopy was wrong (or Charles Shultz was
wrong) but my students were convinced that since his comment appeared in
print it must be right. That's why I had such a hard time trying to explain
the true physics of it.

I have been having trouble with this one. When I try to retrieve the

at the bottom of my bathtub full of water, the soap ALWAYS appears to
CLOSER to the surface than it really is. That is... the water appears to
