Re: Virtual and Real Images

Nothing beats taking a converging lens and sheet of white paper and aiming
them at a window so that a visible image of the outside world (trees other
buildings, etc) is formed on the paper. If you have a diverging lens with
you you find that you can not due this, despite the fact that *you* can look
through the lens out the window and see the outside world.

Subject: Virtual and Real Images

Hello all
No matter how I try to explain it to my students, I can't
seem to get across the differences between a real and virtual image.

I told them that a real image could be formed on a screen, a
virtual could not. A real image is where light converges.
There is no convergences of light rays at a virtual image.

They are still confused and I am at a loss.

Ideas? Thanks
