125th NATIONAL MEETING ABSTRACT DEADLINE
The deadline for submitting abstracts for the 125th AAPT National Meeting
is April 7, 2002. The Program Committee has selected "energy" as the
theme of the 125th National Meeting in Boise, Idaho. In addition to
seeking papers on energy as it relates to physics and physics teaching,
other abstracts relating to physics are welcomed. For more information or

PHYSICS BOWL COMPETITION OFFERS MORE THAN $20,000 IN SCHOLARSHIPS
Enter your physics students in the Physics Bowl and give them the
opportunity to win one of 70 college scholarships, and receive national
recognition for your school and your teaching excellence. This 45-minute
timed test will be administered throughout the country in April. The
deadline for submitting an application is April 2, 2002. For more

2002 U.S. PHYSICS TEAM
Approximately 1100 of the best high school physics students in the nation
took the first round examination for the 2002 United States Physics Team.
Congratulations to the 188 students who have advanced to the semi-final
exam. The 2002 U.S. Physics Team semi-finalists, teachers, and schools are
posted on the AAPT website at

HONOR A TEACHING ASSISTANT
An AAPT member who is a department chair of any university with a graduate
physics program may nominate one teaching assistant (TA) who will then be
awarded the AAPT Outstanding Teaching Assistant Award. The award includes
a complimentary one-year student membership in AAPT. The deadline for
nomination is May 9, 2002. For additional information on this program go
