I was replying to Herb's (single) datum.

More fun than spending $68, build a foil electroscope with a geometry that obviates an
integration of the force, charge it with the pen, measure the angle, and knowing the mass (and
g) calc. the q. I think tape is altogether too crude for anything other than demos. My
first use of tape was to determine if an Alpha ray ionizer (clean bench) was working (ca. 1978)
