Rick, if you kill the fish-- one big block of
ice -- you start a chain of killing all/most birds and mammals -- which
puts a fairly big dent into human survivorability.

Cockroaches may be just fine.

I argue that the "big ice block is associated with no inflexion of expansivity
of liquid water" is an urban myth which could be demonstrably refuted by a
model liquid of the usual kind.
