OK, OK -- but (nit coming) we still aren't hearing the meteors directly

Sorry -- I skimmed it so rapidly I didn't see the URL.

P.s. I've, and many others, have heard large meteors. And it is sound --
same cause as thunder, I believe.

But the THUNDER sound IS delayed because of the speed of sound.

About 1 mile for each five seconds of delay or 1 km for each 3 seconds?

If the meteor 'sounds' were delayed similarly, we would have to wait
a few MINUTES after the flash to hear one.
