I think this is a semantic debate. It is customary to describe a graph as
"variable1 vs variable2," where variable1 is on the vertical axis and
variable2 is on the horizontal. So d vs t describes the conventional graph
from which we read slope as the velocity. t vs d would be a different
graph, whose slope is 1/v.
