Re: Narges instead of charges?

Having a mass is not enough to turn a hole into a positive carrier.
Tell us more about Be, Cd and Zn conductivities. Most textbooks
say that electrons are dominant carriers in ALL metals. Is there
a good reason to say that Zn is not a metal? Is its high thermal
conductivity (sorry Jim) also due to the migration of holes?

I was referring to metals in which only electrons contribute.

well, what about the OTHER metals such as Be, Cd and Zn where HOLE
current predominates ;-)

"why should a hole be counted as a charged carrier (rather than a
neutral particle without a mass?")

Maybe because the hole DOES have mass?!?!?!?!

Some folks do research on electron/hole pairs orbiting their common
center of mass (in a semiconducting crystal)

Be warned that even the ELECTRON mass isn't what you 'expect' in the crystal.
