Another simple machine available is the classroom door used as a crushing
machine (first class lever - but with a right angle at the hinge). Show that
crushing the tip of a pencil is difficult with fingers, but in the door
jamb, a small force applied to the door crushes the pencil easily.
Advantages of 30 X are possible.
