I don't think there is even a law of

A fellow named Shannon had something to say about this,
one of the most elegant and far-reaching ideas put forth

In communication theory, information is sub-conserved.
You cannot get more information out of a communication
channel than you put in.

I may be easily pleased, but I am immensely gratified
that people were able to put an audio signal limited to
an upper frequency lower than 8 kilohertz down a phone
line, and reconstitute data at a rate of 60 kilobits
per second.

It has all the eclat of heat energy appearing in the uphill
direction (sorry, sorry) in a domestic heat pump energized by
a cool river - in plain opposition to the naive physics tenet
about the direction of energy change.
