Eureka!

Brian,
Have a look at the book. It is a compendium of wonderful exercises, in
mainly mechanics and some elementary electricity, designed to stimulate a
curiosity and a better understanding of how things work. Busts a lot of
mythology at the level of concave dishes in drainers and might well appeal
to 10-18 year olds, although it was designed for college kids. Epstein
asks his readers what will happen if .. then challenges them to observe ..
then challenges them to think about what they've observed in order to
revise their 'understanding'. It provokes kids to think in a physical
way, including testing their ideas. Not a bad way for a 10-year old to
get started.
