In paragraph 9, the idea of NaCl forming Na+ and Cl- ions in waterslightly
conflicts with the way this process is presented in chemistry classes. Ineutral
believe chemists consider solid NaCl to be an ionic crystal lattice and
would describe its interaction with water as a dissociation of Na+ and Cl-
ions that already exist rather than the creation of those ions from
Na and Cl atoms. Perhaps, when focusing on ions, the process would bein
better described as solid Na+Cl- producing Na+ and Cl- ions after
interacting with water.
Typo in paragraph 14: pomp for pump.

As a pedagogical exercise I plan to create several short essays on basicideas
of electricity and magnetism. The draft of the first item is on my website at:

Critical comments and suggestions will be appreciated, either openly or
private. The paragraphs have been numbered to facilitate comments.
