Re: References? (was Re: Global Warming)

Well from the US Geological Survey
<http://pubs.usgs.gov/factsheet/fs133-99//gl_vol.html>
the MAXIMUM sea level rise with all the ice melting is over 80 meters. So
in that extreme circumstance I would say NYC is in some trouble--maybe Mr.
Trump would be OK in his penthouse. ;-)

Re -do your "thought" -- or at least recalculate the water height rise --
even if _all_ the ice in the globe were to melt and ocean temperature were
to rise by 2-3K NYC would not submerge -- not that this would not be a
good
idea.

Another self-regulating effect Gaia may have is this: as the Earth
warms,
glaciers will melt. Whatsmore, substances tend to expand with an
increase
in temperature. This means GLOBALLY water levels will rise, washing-out
cities on the coast. Given that many of the major metropli (What's the
plural of 'metropolis'?) lie on coastal waters, these cities will be
submerged, causing less pollution, flooding will cause loss of viable
cropland, the world's population will plummmet, and a new equilibrium
will
ensue.

Just a though...
