Actually isn't that around the upper limit if gasoline
could be 100 % converted to mechanical energy.

Upper limit for what? We need some context here, to make
the dimensional analysis come out right, if nothing else.

I was thinking about an average car with frictional forces
of around 1000 N. This was the value given to me by GM
one time. Certainly there are vehicles with a lot more
frictional forces and some with less.
