Re: Taste: Microwave Heating vs Boiling

Back in the hills of east Tennessee, the best moonshine was ssaid to
have come from the copper stills. The lead solder was recognized by
some to be toxic (but also was ssaid to add a slightly sweet taste).

Our local sheriff would 'bust up' in a minute, a still made with an
automobile radiator as the condenser, but would leave the copper
tubing condenser stills alone, to be a source of 'good stuff'.

...and by typing in the first line of a favorite Oscar Brand song
I got:

Get you a copper kettle, get you a copper coil,
Fill it with new-made corn mash and never more you'll toil.
You'll just lay there by the juniper while the moon is bright,
Watch them jugs a-filling
In the pale moonlight.

Build you a fire with hickory, hickory, ash and oak,
Don't use no green or rotten wood; they'll get you by the smoke.
We'll just lay there by the juniper... etc.

My daddy, he made whiskey; my granddaddy, he did too.
We ain't paid no whiskey tax since 1792.
We just lay there by the juniper... etc.
(LAST LINE REPEATED)

The words are very slightly different from the ones I know, but
it is nice to see them (this is a newer version - 1970).
