Re: heat is not a noun

Is "work" a noun?

I'm quite used to saying that 'work' is a process (a noun)
on converting energy from one form to another.

Maybe I am wrong, but I routinely ask my students to
calculate the work done in lifting an object
W = delta PE
changing the speed of an object
W = delta KE
or both
W = delta PE + delta KE
It seems to me work is quantifiable
