Re: Global Energy etc.

Anyone know the govt.s' subsidy to the nuclear industry?

Down here in PG&E land our children are also paying for the stranded
costs. (Nuclear cost overruns)

P.s. Remember it's socialism for the rich and capitalism for the poor
(us).

I guess ugly is in the eye of the beholder. Last summer I
drove across the country, and I was thrilled to come upon
a couple of large wind farms unexpectedly. I thought the
dozens (maybe over a hundred) of white wind turbines
whirling gaily was magnificent. Noisy, maybe, I could
hear the beating from a couple of miles away.

Colors of towers and turbines may be chosen to improve
the esthetics. And the noise can perhaps be reduced very
significantly by using powerful loudspeakers (negative
feedback). I agree with Daniel Schroeder that a traditional
power plant is often more ugly than a wind farm.

But do the existing wind stations pay for themselves?
My impression was that most of them are still projects
partially subsidized by taxes. I hope to be wrong on this.
