Re: The Earth's Environment

The Earth's Environment
----- Original Message -----
From: Moore, David

I have been monitoring the discussion now appearing on this listserv about
the energy problem in California and also about Michael Edmiston being an
environmentalist. It seems to me that the second law of thermodynamics is a
major factor as we can not avoid polluting our planet. Environmentalists
must realize that it is unavoidable. All we can do is pollute it as slowly
as possible. Ultimately we, as a species, must leave this planet to
survive.

Or reduce the global population and increase the use of renewable resources
until there is an equilibrium between the damage we do and the earth's
ability to self-heal that damage. The population number is certainly less
than the 6 billion of today but NOT the ZERO advocated by some environmental
fringe groups!
