Temporary Physics Faculty Position



TEMPORARY FACULTY POSITION
Applications are invited for a one-year sabbatical leave replacement physics
teaching position for the 2001-2002 school year. The position starts late
August 2001 and lasts to mid May 2002. A commitment to teaching of
undergraduate non-majors and physics majors is necessary. An M.S. or a
Ph.D., or the equivalent, in Physics or a closely related field is required.
Hillsdale College, http://www.Hillsdale.edu, is a private, well-endowed,
co-educational, liberal arts school of 1100 students. The teaching load is
about 12 class contact hours per semester. Courses that are scheduled to be
taught are Conceptual Physics lecture and lab; Calculus based Introductory
Physics, third semester, lecture and lab; and Junior level Mechanics I and
II lecture. Hillsdale College is located on a 200 acre site in a beautiful,
small Michigan town. The physics department is well equipped and has 15,000
sq. ft. of floor space. Salary is competitive with similar schools.
Candidates should submit a statement on their teaching philosophy. Copies
of college and graduate school transcripts should also be submitted. Three
