Quite right. But then, if Humpty Dumpty can redefine "glory" to mean
"a nice knock-down argument," Mr. Denker can redefine static/kinetic
friction to mean viscous drag.

Physics, Starling & Woodall, chapter 5 is titled, "Friction - Viscosity".
It remarks that a fluid's inability to support a shearing stress is easier
to understand than the comparable effect, "friction" - in solds.

I should mention that the thread on cause and effect appeared to me
to be approaching collegiality in comparison with some previous debates.
