Re: Fuel efficiency

Consumers Reports lists fuel efficiency for new passenger vehicles in its
annual automobile issue. However, fuel efficiency figures can be misleading
since usually only "miles per gallon" are reported. The important figure is
"passenger miles per gallon". Using this measure trains and buses are far
more efficient than passenger cars even though a passenger train may burn a
gallon of diesel fuel per mile.

You might try searching at:

http://www.eia.doe.gov/

I tried "fuel efficiency" as a search parameter and got several pages of
'hits'. Didn't immediately find what you want, but didn't look beyond the
first page of references.

From following earlier discussions, I know that some of you are well
informed about "transportation physics". Does anyone know a good source
for
fuel efficiency versus speed data for various types of vehicles, in either
tabular or graphical form?
