Re: Air conditioner noise (sorry to bring this up again)

As ha, the secret is out; you live in the country for peace and quiet, and a nasty neighbor has made it pointless. I wondered why 58 dB. bothered you. Why don't you record some city noises on an
endless loop; play it through your hi-fi, and you won't even notice the AC.

I think you need a brick wall, better, as I suggested before, an attack attorney. One argument is that he has reduced the value of your property, my lay view is that that would work for
compensation. With the award move.

Today the noise engineer came to give us advice about the noise. He said
that the noise was 58 decibels 7 feet from the air conditioner on our porch.
By putting up a wall, it would reduce the level by 10 decibels. I suggested
plywood with corrugated metal on the inside and he said that is not a good
idea, because the metal would not work. He suggested some kind of cloth
material with fiberglass and a covering. He hinted at a cost around 1-2
thousand. I am still interested in a noise phaser, but he said that they
around 100,000 dollars and don't really work, because they need a steady
frequency and require a lot of equipment. A physics teacher said that they
are highly effective and work great with noise in the city. Could anyone
suggest any information as to where I can look up stuff about noise phases.
Also what is your impression about the costs, because they are way out of my
reach. For your amusement, if this air conditioner unit was in the city, it
would be illegal due to its dB level. He also said that it might be off
balance, and that is increasing the noise.
