The local science store has the next generation of that toy. The bobbin
contains a small battery, coil, and some type of commutator (maybe a
hall-effect sensor). When spun, it speeds up to a constant RPM, and keeps
running until the battery dies. With blinking LEDS too! All done while
levitating.
