It seems to me that acoustic horns are rather closer to
continuous impedence transformers which offer the advantage
of wider functional bandwidth if the impedence change is
tapered over several wavelengths.
For a twin wire feeder, what could be easier than increasing
the seperation of the wires? This was a balanced feed for a
dipole, for example - the 'delta match'.
