Re: convert light into energy

But this is empty tautology. "Property" implies a noun that owns
the "property". "Charge" is a noun that is its own "property".
Charge is transported independently of any charged object. A
photon is not "charged", but when it scatters off of a nucleus it may
convert itself into a pair of charged objects.
Similarly a photon, which has no mass, may strike a proton and
create thereby a neutron and a charged pi-meson, so the photon has
"created" mass, which was not "carried" by any "object" - whatever
an "object" might happen to be.
Words are an imperfect means of communication; that's why Dick
Hake's Socratic Dialog Labs ask the students to answer questions by
drawing pictures of people doing things. This is a nice way to avoid
pedantry.

Jack

Adam was by constitution and proclivity a scientist; I was the same, and
we loved to call ourselves by that great name...Our first memorable
scientific discovery was the law that water and like fluids run downhill,
not up.
