Re: Fwd: Super

I don't understand why I can open attachments in person-to-person e-mail,
but cannot when the message goes through a list server. I guess it's my
ignorance of the constraints of the list server. I would like to
understand. Can someone enlighten?

The attachment was sent as a base64-encoded attachment, and as such,
it is sent intact through servers (or should be, just like for
uuencoded or binhexed attachments). For Mac users, you can copy it
out of your e-mail, including the initial

--Boundary_(ID_3koG9NCOxT/ZxNTuJx4Trg)

and final

--Boundary_(ID_3koG9NCOxT/ZxNTuJx4Trg)--

I suggest copying it into a good text editor such as BBEdit, and save
it out as a text file. Then, you must drag and drop it onto a base64
decoder. There are dedicated decoders for this, but Stuffit Expander
will work fine.

Then open it in your fave jpeg viewer (Netscape, JPEGView,
GraphicConverter, etc).

PC users in the same boat should be able to use a similar method, but
perhaps they should be made to suffer for whoever sent not only an
attachment, but a base-64 attachment, to a mailing list, likely done
from a PC :-)

P.S. It is indeed the same photo as noted by Brian at the web link
