From GM^2/16R^2 = Mv^2/2R . . . v^2 = GM/8R . . .

Combining,
S = (8/9 +1/8) GMm/R^2 = (73/72)*(GMm/R^2)

c) free fall acc rel to planet SURFACE : a = (73/72)*(GM/R^2)

but if you mean a rel to planet CM, then:

a = (137/144)*(GM/R^2)

I hope I transcribed my sloppy notes correctly!
