Ok, does Mel Gibson REALLY speak for modern day kilt wearers?????? (a
la Braveheart)

not that i want to discuss men's underwear, but after the discussion of

good thing in underwear? unless you are in danger of being in a fire as a
race car driver would be, I would think it would be uncomfortably warm?
thinking about bicycling or such. OTOH, my husband wears a kilt weekends
to scottish games and stuff. the guys who wrestle or compete in the heavy
athletics will wear bicycle shorts or similar attire under their kilts. is
nomex like that?

Military pilots wear Nomex flight suits. NASCAR drivers probably
prefer underwear to overalls as being less restrictive and perhaps
more 'fashionable'?

Nomex briefs under a kilt probably would NOT pass muster.

Now, if you are talking about passing muster, you are referring to military
wear. Here's the real story for those who are curious:

If a gentleman is wearing a kilt as part of a military uniform, he is
considered to be "out of uniform" if he wears anything under his kilt;
hence the expression (among kilt wearers) "regimental." This is true
unless the military personnel is marching with a pipe band (they lift their
knees up to waist height while marching) or dancing, in which case he is
required to wear suitable undergarments.

In civilian attire, the gentleman wears anything he damn well pleases-
those scots are an independent lot- and many choose to go regimental.

and now i have to swear you all to secrecy!

as for mel gibson, i have no idea what he says about kilt wearing. i DO
know the "Wallace Wave" is a reality. Our gang of rowdy scots did a photo
of a WW for a fund raiser. about 40 + guys, photo taken from a fair
distance and printed up. copies sell for $20. very successful fund raiser
for our living history farm.(http://www.lochnorman.org)
