First, try not saving the file as a BMP -- they are by their very nature
HUGE!  Use the Save As... option and choose GIF if its a limited color
palette ( 32 or less).

Otherwise, check out some shareware, and use what you like best.  I'd
try saving differently first, that should be good enough to get you
started.
