Re: X-Windows and PCs

Ken,
I use PC-Xware for my Xterm emulation. However, there is a cost
to that. I am not sure how much the latest version, 5.0, costs. There
is also a package called Exceed that most universities can easily get
site licenses for and then your cost would be minimal.
Another option is to roam a site like download.com or for better
speed, the SUN sites (http://www.sunsite.utk.edu/ and
http://www.sunsite.unc.edu/) are a good option with lots of software
that is off the beaten path. Example - they have LINUX so you don't
have to download from RedHat directly and they also have the Netscape
updates, etc. - tons of software.
Hope that helps.

Subject: X-Windows and PCs

I have a UNIX machine in my office and a Windows-95 PC at home. A number
of
UNIX-based programs such as X-View and Mathematica require the X-Windows
environment to run. To get my e-mail when I'm at home, I telnet to our
UNIX
system at school. Works fine, but that's text only. What I'd like to
know
is whether there is any software that would allow me to run UNIX
X-Windows
programs remotely at home from Windows 95 over a modem connetion? Even
better, shareware? Money is an object! If anybody has any experience
doing
this, I would very much appreciate hearing from you.

Thanks.
