Current options aren't great. However, if you want to plan for the
future of the web you should at least start looking into MathML. Check
out http://www.w3.org/Math/ for some details including a current list of
software that runs it. I used the Amaya browser for a while to get some
familiarity with it. Depending on what sort of tutoring you are talking
about, you may even find current MathML options that suit you and the
students.
