Re: latest scam: "X-RAY SPECS" for camcorder

HI,
I read a few months ago that Sony stopped sales of their video camera
that had a "0 LUX" mode. This mode must use IR. The camera was pulled because
if operated in the 0 LUX mode in daylight, it could see through lycra. The
camera was reintroduced with an interlock preventing this operation.

The information on the quoted web site
http://www.kaya-optics.com/index.htm
implies that the CCD is sensitive in the near IR, so filtering out the visible
light would might work. On a color camera, I think there are 3 CCD with
different filter. The filter for the red recording CCD might well pass IR.
THe company's online instrcutions have you remove an IR filter. The demos
shown on their "experiment" page do look good, but a scamis possible.
