Re: breaking glass with sound

If you look at the "Mechanical Universe" video tapes, they do this.

It takes a good oscillator, a direced speaker, and a fairly good
amplifier circuit. You don't need a special glass, as is demonstrated
in the tape, a beaker will do.

If you try to break a bottle, BE CAREFUL. For some reason, botles
require a bit more power, and shatter in a shrapnel-like pattern!

A couple of my students are trying to break glass with sound. So, some
questions:

1) Has anyone had any luck doing this? How?

2) What's the pira website address?

3) Does tap-l still exist, and if so, does anyone have subscription info?

Thanks.
