Re: LASERS



Regarding comments by Ludwik Kowalski and others on explaining laser action
using classical concepts.

It seems to me that if raw classical concepts were valid in the quantum
domain, then we would not need quantum mechanics - somebody would have
already written a mathematical theory of quantum mechanics using them.
(And I don't think that hidden variable theories would be the answer in
this context.)

It's a great challenge to make quantum mechanics intelligible to everybody,
but it's hard to see how it might be done in a purely conceptual way.

I guess I'm just waffling.
