Sorry, that was a bit stupid. Regular mirrors are mounted with the
metallized surface in back (to protect it from dirt and fingerprints), and
the metal is overpainted to further protect it. So one *does* see double
images, and one should robably mount the one-way mirror the same way so
that it doesn't look "suspicious". Besides you don't want the kids' grimy
fingerprints on the delicate metallized surface.
